I have an olive tree that produced a bumper crop of olives this year, so I thought I’d process them for oil. Searched online for a automatic press that would not require me to pit all the olives. The description on this one seemed to fit the bill and was reasonably priced. I harvested a gal of olives, cleaned them and then put them through the press. It took several hours and a gal of olives produced about 2 tablespoons of sludge. I let it stand as instructed in the enclosed manual for the solids to settle and ended up with an oil slick on top of the sludge. I wasn’t expecting a lot of oil from my olives but certainly not that little, especially given the labor involved. I had to stand there the whole time because the hopper would get blocked up and the press would automatically turn off. The waste didn’t come out the front as depicted in the manual, a lot of it backed up into the hopper and prevented olives from feeding into the press, so I ended up standing there clearing the hopper and dropping olives in one or two at a time. This thing cost me over $280 with shipping. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement.
